The Petcord netlabel is a German/Greek/Spanish collaboration between Olliver Wichmann,
René Muñoz Córdova and
Giorgos Stefanou - all three netaudio artists themselves - that concentrates on
experimental, sometimes gloomy electroacoustic music and explores original ways of musical expression. It is striving to
get rid of tagging music with unsatisfying keywords that hardly do any justice to artists, because they take away their
individuality. At the same time, however, the Petcord netlabel believes that soundscapes lacking any interesting structures
are essentially indistinguishable from arbitrary randomness. So anything in between these mentioned polarities is what the
Petcord netlabel tries to gather and define as its preferred line of music.
As a complement to their netlabel work, the Petcord team expanded its activities and launched in September 2008 the Leftob Audio Cast project, a mp3-streaming netradio that provides experimental Creative Commons netaudio artists a platform to get heard by an interested audience. This has made Petcord to one of the few netlabels that not only publishes someone's work, but is also able to introduce an artist's work to those listeners who are not necessarily the typical netlabel release collectors and use netradio stations like Leftob as a guide for download or buying decisions. Thanks to word of mouth by happy listeners, both Petcord and Leftob have seen a constant growth of their visitor and listener base. Musicians who are interested in releasing on Petcord may like to study our submission guidelines.
We, the individuals behind Petcord, believe in freedom of arts and therefore each music release in mp3 format you can find
here may be copied or shared with other persons for noncommercial purposes, as defined in the
Creative Commons licence model. For licensing
details please refer to the individual releases, as different terms may apply, depending on the artist. In case you want
to incorporate sound samples into your own noncommercial productions, we kindly ask you to
contact Petcord and ask for permission first. Entities interested in commercial use of our mp3
releases or cover artwork may contact the netlabel for individual licence arrangements (provided
the artist agrees to your proposal).
