Giorgos Stefanou is a Greek composer living on the island of Crete, whose music spans from electro acoustic abstractions to a contemporary equivalent of musique concrete (where tape loops are replaced with field recordings). Not unlike Iannis Xenakis, the great Greek composer of the 20th century, his music takes a lean and minimalistic approach of defining an organised structure of complementary sonic events. Giorgos Stefanou is not only a member of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (ESSIM), but also has a solid background in music technology and acoustics via his ongoing studies at the Technological and Educational Institute of Crete.
