Greg Surges composes both chamber and computer generated music with a thorough, formal education. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honours in composition and music technology at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and plans to continue his studies for his Master of Music in composition by autumn. His work has already been presented on several occasions and is often characterised by the use of algorithms that gradually transform the original source, sometimes by erraneous processing like spontaneously occuring mutations. With each re-interpretation, the same work may evolve into something different, inevitably leading to a dynamic form of composition that no longer implies one final version, but instead focuses on a set of instructions that lead to multiple "valid" results.
