Through a Glass Darkly summons a dark underworld of ambient electroacoustic textures. Industrial machinery flickers in and out of focus, along with tunnels, fields, temples, and mines as bells clang and jackhammers rumble. Despite the darkness of this adventure, there is also somehow an organic and inviting warmth and tenderness to the sound, possibly because from their studio in Austin/TX, with their sustainer guitars, violins, electric fans and a myriad of noisemakers, these two Englishmen record everything live, direct to disk, without overdubs.
