[pc0311-01] NP - Nahash

NP - nahash - front cover The first 14 letters of the Hebrew alphabet served as naming scheme for Philippe Nore's second work on Petcord, Nahash. The French sound artist explores a variety of timbres in his electroacoustic miniatures ranging from chopped rhythm fragments to bleak resonant drones, from harsh feedback to gentle analogue warmth. The variety of both dynamics and timbres is large with changes of pitch, textures and tone sequences defining the main characteristics of a track. Compared to Quinze, NP's vocabulary on Nahash extends to finer nuances and spatial refinements. Consequently, the songs tend to increase in playtime, but also to surprise the listener with unexpected turns.
