A noisy machinery slowly approaching the abyss, a silently swallowing black. It is only after the grainy dust has
settled that more details start to unveil their existence. Valerio Orlandini's debut for Petcord,
LentoVeloce Propagare D'Abissi leaves no doubt about industrial mindscape being an apt description for the
eerie darkness spreading as the music approaches the abyss. The last minutes turn to hours, days, weeks and years
as time is bent and stretched by the Black Hole's gravity to infinity. As the fog is lifting there is even some time
for dreamy patches of sound strangely illuminated by the waning twilight, before the unknown has another go at taking
over the spatial virtual entity that surrounds the listener. Last light's curvature on a shrinking horizon.
Distant drones create a huge cavernous space, but their effect is quite the contrary on what is commonly associated with drones: Rather than sinking slowly to a world of interference patterns and shifting micro sequences, there is a constant unrest with gradually changing sceneries and development of new sound characteristics. Despite the length of more than 50 minutes, Valerio Orlandini's work never loses momentum and demonstrates that it is more than a mere random juxtaposition of sounds, because some recurring elements see transformation and variation during the course of time. Further, this is music that does not fit into any drawer at all: If I dubbed LentoVeloce Propagare D'Abissi experimental dark ambient industrial drone mindscape that still would not capture all aspects of the music, so I stay away from doing that.
