[pc1109-01] Synflict - Prismatine

Synflict - Prismatine - front cover Synflict is the moniker for the creative cooperation between Marco Cervellin and me, Olliver Wichmann. Primarily known for designing cover artwork for various netlabel artists, we eventually expanded our teamwork to include music. Prismatine is the result of exchanging aesthetic ideals which have emerged during our creative cooperation and could be briefly summarised as the following: There is a gesture and a direction it points at. It will form a common thread spanning across the segment of our attention. The tension between the initial gesture and its counterpart decides about the contrast. But it is the distribution of being and nothingness, as well as the degree of contradictions and interferences which ultimately defines the aesthitic quality of a creation. Whilst individual preferences vary, it is our goal to maximise the intersection of our agreement by rethinking approaches, seeking compromises or putting aside things we cannot agree upon until they may serve a better purpose within a different context.

Synflict - Prismatine - back cover At the musical level, Prismatine consists of five aural artworks which were added the course of time as supplemental stylistic element and can be best categorised as basically electroacoustic concerning its structure, but also reaching out to some aspects of dark ambient and drone. Its characteristics are a lack of improvisation, huge dynamic and aural contrasts (consonance versus dissonance, attack versus decay) and pauses as a means to interrupt a continious flow. Each of the parts form an autonomous unit of their own and exhibit distinct aspects of their microcosm. Those parts range from cold and sparse sequences interspersed with floating tones to crackling feedback or even moments of dreamy calm. Typically, gestures are varied and segmented, but remain recognisable though they are never repeated the same way. Instead, they paraphrase the underlying thought and enrich it with new details.

Some browsers may automatically play the file rather than offering a dialogue what to do with the latter, so in this case downloads may not be that straight forward. In case your favourite browser happens to exhibit exactly that behaviour, simply right click the link, and then a context menu should appear that offers something like "Save as" or "Save location as".
