[pc1110-01] Petcord Volume 1 - The Audio Fringe

Petcord Volume 1 - The Audio Fringe - front cover In the beginning there was an idea of gathering what used to be scattered across several labels. Artists that were accepted for their work that was too far out to see the light of day in a world of streamlined stereotypes, rather than just incrementing the release count by one. Three years later, after several ups and downs it seems Petcord has finally been accepted for what it is and that was reason enough to dare release our first compilation. Usually, there's little point in aquiring these, since they merely summarise previous albums, but in our case, the contributing artists participate with exclusive tracks that haven't been released before on the label.

The music itself spans across familiar sections prominently featured on Petcord, namely electroacoustic, dark ambient, drone and otherwise experimental feedback, clicks and crackling loops that fail to comply to stereotypes. Whilst a dominance of gloomy, tension ridden tracks can't be denied, there are also some moments of peace and relief, with a varying degree of complexity, dissonance and worked out structures. In case you always wanted to know what kind of music is typical for Petcord without the necessity to go through all 30+ releases that have accumulated over the years, here is your summary.
