Entity - the well known notion that everything is one and connected to each other. On the large scale it is the universe's membrane
encapsulating our world, objects gliding along the fabric of space-time, bending and crushing it. On the microscale, there are
vibrating strings with individual overtones and patterns and the immaterial world of racing thoughts. As usual with the oeuvre of
René Muñoz Córdova, there are two angles: One that defines the pure sound events and another that focuses on underlying philosophical
thoughts. The female voice in the beginning proclaims that a better existence will return and recreate dreams, new age happiness as
a uniform uncritical mass and yet the music seems to impress the contrary, since this utopy cannot materialise.
The latest album of René Muñoz Córdova continues the path to a less defined floating sound. Silence has become an important ingredient and leads to thinned out structures. A common thread is the passage of time, subject to both velocity and gravity and the tendency of the music to move away from concrete tone sequences and concentrate on the modification of feedback drones and how they slowly interact with each other. This entity is on the verge of falling apart at times, harsh and unpredictable, but occasional piano tones, vague and reduced to single chromatic sequences, lighten up the bleak scenery. Sparse and efficient.
