As things evolve there inevitably comes the time to move on and realise that everything we got accustomed to is everything but certain. Departure,
a collection of works done within the first half of 2011, is Fabio Keiner's final work for Petcord. It somehow summarises the achievements of the past
years, how the improvisations turned into solid works by restraining the addition of of sound layers to the absolute necessary. This may be a parallel to
people losing their pride and easy formulas for life as their wisdom grows and they become increasingly aware of how little they actually know.
Considerable variety can be found on Departure: From the gentle reverb patches of Nocturne to the eery restlessness of Sleep or Ambient Metronome, moods and structures vary the concept of floating drones and how overtones and dissonant passages interact with each other. Just labelling these pieces as Drone or Dark Ambient only represents half of the equation, as there is also the influence of Eastern philosophy and contemporary classic (A Tribute to Scelsi), all merged into a personal flavour of ambient music.
